National Vigils to #EndGunViolence

  • St. Mark's Episcopal Church 301 A Street Southeast Washington, DC, 20003 United States (map)

By December 2016, the 4th anniversary of the Newtown shootings, more than 120,000 Americans nationwide will have died from guns and another 280,000 Americans will have been injured by guns. We must continue to shed a light on the epidemic of gun violence in our nation until these gun deaths and injuries are reduced. The Newtown Foundation (the charitable arm of the Newtown Action Alliance) in partnership with St Marks Episcopal Church, Faiths United to Prevent Gun Violence, States United to Prevent Gun Violence, Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence, Organizing for Action, Everytown Survivor Network and Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America will host the 4th annual national vigil service of mourning and loving remembrance for all who have fallen victim to the ongoing epidemic of gun violence in America on December 14th in Washington D.C at 7:00pm, on the 4th anniversary date of the Sandy Hook tragedy.

The National Vigil for All Victims of Gun Violence held in Washington D.C. on December 14th will be the anchor event to kickoff the Nationwide 50-State Vigils/Events. We are looking for faith organizations and/or gun violence prevention groups to hold a local vigil or event in each of the 50 states from December 14-18th to continue to raise awareness and to keep this issue front and center. Last year, more than 500 local events were held in 39 states, Washington DC and in Mexico.

Please join our national event and stand with all the families of all victims of gun violence, survivors and advocates to honor all Americans affected by gun violence and to end gun violence.
