“My sister, Patricia Springer was shot and killed by domestic violence-gun violence on September 15, 1997 in Washington, NC. She was only six weeks shy of her 40th birthday. We were supposed to grow old together. Patty's killer was a convicted felon that had spent his entire adult life terrorizing women. He never should have had access to a gun. It was so preventable. Her murder has profoundly effected me in many ways. I miss her infectious laugher, her kind heart, and so much more. I now volunteer advocating for gun reform. I do so to prevent other families from going through the same devastation as my family did. I #HonorWithAction to honor the love I have for my sister.”
